Everest Base Camp Packing List – What You Really Need for the Trek

Packing for Everest Base Camp can be trickier than it sounds. The weather changes fast, the altitude adds extra challenges, and space in your duffel or backpack is limited. Overpacking can make your trek harder, but underpacking might leave you unprepared for the cold nights above 5,000m.

On my last EBC trek, I realized that a lot of “recommended gear lists” online are either too vague or include unnecessary items. That’s why I put together a complete, experience-based packing list covering clothing, footwear, gear, and a few extras that made my trek much more comfortable.

I’ve included details like:

The right layering system for changing weather

Must-have accessories for sun, wind, and snow

Essential medications and hygiene items

How to keep gear light but still warm enough for sub-zero nights

A few optional “luxury” items that are worth the weight

If you’re planning EBC (or any other high-altitude trek in Nepal), you can check out my full guide here: Everest Base Camp Packing List: Complete Trekking Gear Guide

I’d love to hear from other trekkers what’s the one piece of gear you would never leave behind for EBC?

The one piece of gear to never leave behind?

A sack of Yak Snacks. The yaks deserve treats.
