I was looking for ebags packing cubes on Amazon and noticed they were no longer listed. The website now says that the shop is closed and there is no longer inventory on Amazon. It looks like you can sign up with Samsonite for updates on a future version of the Mother Lode bag.
That’s too bad, I know a lot of people liked their bags. Luckily I snagged a Mother Lode Jr. a few months ago while they were on sale.
The background on this is that Samsonite had purchased Ebags quite some time ago. It must be part of their strategic plan to reduce the number of brands but keep Mother Lode line in production under the Samsonite brand.
That’s too bad. I have a motherlode junior that I like, but it’s the pack-it flat toiletries bag that will be harder to replace. Better take good care of it!

But I had noticed in recent years that Ebags didn't have as many products available as they did in the past, like purses or waist packs.
I think originally, the founder of ebags was an executive of Samsonite. Ebags was its own company. Then, ebags merged with samsonite. Too bad it’s gone. Too much luggage competition in general. I’m sure Amazon made it much harder.

In the “early days,” Ebags sold all kinds of brands including some Rick Steve luggage. Then, Ebags got more focused - for good reason. Then, started merging with Samsonite. Then, covid hit and severely reduced traveling and luggage sales. Then, ebags really cut back on inventory. Then, the insane clearance sales. So, I’m not surprised. Ebags demise has been a process. I liked some of its products.
I have a Mother Lode, Jr., so I guess that I had better take care of it. I like it, but it has so many zippered pockets that it makes it hard for me to remember where I have put small things.. It is a shame about e-bags, but when they stopped carrying many brands and styles that is when I stopped shopping their site.
I used to love eBags. I got some nice purses from them (designed for travel) and I LOVE their lightweight packing cubes (they act like compression bags but are squared, so they pack so much better.
I got some items at a great sale price when Samsonite took over and was dumping all the previous eBags labeled products and since then, don’t shop from them. I’ve looked a few times but don’t see anything for me. Too bad, but I guess it saves me some money!

I’m with you on ebags stuff. Due to inflation and lack of need - I stopped looking at eagle creek and Tom Bihn as well. I lost interest in eagle creek quite a while ago. Some luggage is getting overly complicated and expensive. If I need luggage now - I will pursue cheap, basic luggage like US Traveler Rio. No bells & whistles - just basic stuff. I will look at osprey and deuter. I will look at a few other brands. Eddie Bauer luggage is too expensive now.
That's too bad. I bought my SOC Bugout Bag from Ebags almost 10 years ago. Back then, it was a great site with lots of different brand selections, low prices and promotional sign-up discounts. It has not been as good the last few years.
I'm sorry to hear that. Over the years, I've bought several products from them, and they were all of good quality.
I really liked Ebags. I got their Motherlode JR a few weeks ago while it was on clearance.
I just despise the fact that good sites that made easier for us travelers to get stuff or information are changing, closing or being abandoned by subpar substitutes, if any (looking at you SeatGuru).
