Eagle Creek packable backpack

Does anyone have this EC backpack? Target has them on clearance right now and I got one. I will be in Switzerland for a week in October and thinking this might be good for our mountain adventures. Plus it’s compact and lightweight. I also thought I could use it as a checked bag if I need more room for clothes coming home.

If you are going to pay for a checked bag - then, check your largest bag while coming home. This bag is small enough that I would carry it into the plane cabin.

My hubby works for Delta so I don’t pay for checked bags. I will be checking one suitcase and taking a tote bag as my personal item. So if I do need to check another bag, I won’t have to pay for it.

I bought one recently to use as a daybag on a bus tour out west. Because of the straps and light weight, I don't think checking would be a good idea.

I'm guessing you don't have it yet or you wouldn't talk about checking it. It's a packable bag meaning it folds into itself. While better made than most packables, it is still a very thin day bag that will give little to no protection to what is inside if checked. It will get crushed.

I have the EC packable backpack which I used daily on my last RS Tour. I preferred it over RS' Civita Daypack because it is not as deep, so items don't all fall to the bottom where they get lost. It mainly held my lightweight jacket, tour book, snack, and water. I added a chest strap/buckle to take the weight off my shoulders, as well as a security ring at the bottom.
As others have noted, it is packable, so it is very lightweight and not very sturdy. It probably wouldn't be something you'd want to check, free or otherwise.

Thanks everyone! I did order it but doubt I will use it as a piece of checked baggage.

I have a previous edition of this backpack. I don't think I will check this in. It's way too flimsy.
