Computer Online Price Jumps - Am I Crazy?

I was going to recommend an Ebags duffle to someone. A couple hours ago - the price was around $55 and you could get 20% off. Now, it's jumped to almost $70 - 20% discount still applies. I am not going to recommend it at that price. Might as well get the eagle creek one.
I wish there was more stability with online prices and sales were more predictable.

A lot of stuff gets made in other countries, and new tariffs are all over the news. Or it could be material change in the foreign currency. Or maybe they just decided they wanted to make more money.

It's probably just some sort of capacity control algorithm. They look to see how many clicks an item gets versus how many sales. One way to get around it might be to place the item in your cart, but abandon it. You might get an email inviting you back with a discount.

Maybe the first listing was a mistake that they corrected. $70 - 20% = $56, so that's pretty close to the $55 that was originally posted.

It happens at eBags. They will run an unannounced special and it will suddenly disappear. It happened to me recently. It'usually done if they are trying to get rid of stock.

Thanks All! It has happened to me at LLBean and even a cookbook on Amazon. I jumped on those two sales because I knew the prior prices. This time on ebags, I thought the price would last until at least the end of day and I didn't know the "usual" price.

I always do my first searches in a private or incognito window. Depends on your browser, but the menu (three dots) in the upper right will show it. No cookies, doesn't keep your history, no autofill. When I find something I want, I go back to the site in the normal browser to buy, as that has my autofill info. HTH

Argh! I belong to a slightly older (Gen X) generation. I dislike having to "keep up" with modern culture and the ever changing complexities of computers. I like some aspects of computers, but still appreciate a less hectic, more simple life.
