Collapsible Water Bottles

Hi Folks,
My mom and I are looking for recommendations for inexpensive, light weight collapsible water bottles for our upcoming trip that don't leave a plastic taste.

We drink a decent amount of water at home (about 80-120oz/day) and currently use insulated 40oz tumblers at home. These just aren't practical for a trip, so I'm looking for another option, preferably something that keeps water cold.

Thank you for any recommendations,

PQ

I have tried many of the collapsible water bottles from REI as we drink a lot of water-Oregon water-yum. Nothing is insulated and most make the water taste disgusting. Best situation we have found and used for several years- we each take a 16 oz nalgene https://www.rei.com/product/255203/rei-co-op-nalgene-sustain-logo-wide-mouth-water-bottle-16-fl-oz and a 34 oz platypus soft water bottle https://www.rei.com/product/150140/platypus-softbottle-water-bottle-34-fl-oz Enough for short hike or drive before we have to refill, and we usually carry at least 16 oz around cities and we leave the soft ones in the fridge (if we have one) and a cold drink when we return to the room is delightful and cold water in the morning is great as we do not drink coffee.

Because I carry three quarts of water each day during our yearly UK long distance walks, I now carry three Vapur original Anti-Bottles. There's no plastic taste that my husband or I have noticed.
There's no insulation, but I prefer the under two-ounce weight to that of anything insulated.

I took the Vapur bottle both to Crete and to the Dolomites hiking. I also use it at home and do not think it has a plastic taste. I took the larger Platypus Softbottle also to Crete as it was much hotter there and little chance of refilling.

The ones which keep the water cold are heavier and I don't like the weight. My husband took a smaller insulated one but he is less sensitive to weight than me. He would have carried an insulated one for me as well but I like to have my water on my person.

I've been using a Platypus for at least 20 years (not the same one - I accidentally left one in a trullo in Alberobello and, on an African trip, one suffered so badly it needed to be replaced). They used to sell a 16-oz one, which was perfect because I could carry it in my waist pack. When they went to the larger size, I still bought one, but turned the bottom up a couple of inches and taped it so that it became a 16-oz. I love, love, LOVE my Platypus! No, it doesn't keep water cold, but to me the light weight is more important.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check these out! Im still hoping to find something insulated if anyone has recs for those around 16oz.

Thanks again,

Don't bother bringing one. Pack lite. Buy when you arrive. They're common.

I bought a couple of collapsible water bottles last year and they seem to work quite well (they were supplied as a two-pack). They look very close to THIS MODEL. The bottle did initially have somewhat of a plastic taste, and the manufacturer provided instructions for dealing with that. However I decided to try my own method first..... I filled the bottle with water and mixed in a tablespoon of baking soda, and let it stand for a day or so. That seemed to solve the problem.

My experience in using them is that they're reasonably easy to travel with, however when the cap is open, some care has to be taken to hold them. It's also a good idea to check that the cap is on tightly as they will leak if that's not done.

The PlatypusPreserve might be a good alternative. It is 27 oz and is advertised for transporting wine or spirits.
