Closing the loop on my RuMe saga:
My shipment arrived yesterday, November 12. That was fast delivery, only 3 days from Colorado to Washington DC.
All of the items are made of a relatively lightweight fabric--I think nylon. It's not the thinnest possible. I have a set of three small RuMe zippered pouches from several years ago that are lighter (but they're so small they don't need to be sturdy).
I've weighed the items I received in case that information is helpful to others. (Dimensions are on the website.) I just used a postal scale, so I can't be more specific than this:
Mini tote weighs between 1 and 1.5 oz.
Medium tote weighs between 1.5 and 2 oz.
Large (macro) tote weighs between 2 and 2.5 oz. (seems barely over 2 oz.)
RuMe All weighs a smidgen over 2.5 oz.
Baggie All (tote-bag or purse organizer) weighs a bit under 1 oz.
The packing cubes (set of 3) weigh between 4.5 and 5 oz. (closer to 4.5, I think)
The cFold product is larger and more sturdily constructed than the totes, having a reinforced bottom. Its weight seems to be just under 7 oz., and it's rather bulky when folded up. I wouldn't want to carry it around with me every day, just on the off-chance I'd need a bag; for that purpose I'd choose one of the much lighter and less bulky totes. (Then again, I always have a rather commodious purse with me; others might have more use for the cFold on a daily basis, especially if traveling in a family group.) For those who can afford the weight in a suitcase, I believe this would be suitable as an overflow bag for shopping, etc., or a bus bag on travel days. This is similar to (but I think larger than) products I've seen for sale in stores at about $25 (which I've always considered ludicrous), so I was happy to find them at less than $9 while RuMe had its 75%-off deal.
What's odd is that I ordered the cFold in different colors, and I received two different sizes (per dimensions printed on their tags):
The larger ones (ruby chevy and navy) are 22.5" x 15" x 6.75" open and 8.5" x 7" x 1.5" closed. In terms of cubic capacity, these are about 13% larger than the smaller version.
The smaller ones (black and aspen) are 20" x 16" x 7" open and 9" x 8" x 1" closed.
Even the smaller CFold is 30% larger than the overflow bag I've been traveling with, which has generally been plenty large enough for my purposes. I'm not that much of a shopper, but I take very long trips and I do occasionally succumb to temptation and buy glass, ceramics, or books. These cFolds are so large they seem to be suitable as weekender bags, etc. When used more casually, I'm afraid contents could easily shift around a lot, which could be annoying if they weren't very full.
Belated thought: At 75% off (which I realize is not the current price), the mini totes and medium totes were inexpensive enough that I should have considered buying a bunch of extras to use as gift bags.
