I just “discovered” these. I bought one for on upcoming water outing. I mistakenly thought all dry bags were expensive, technical gear for rafting expeditions, etc.. I was wrong. There are many light duty cheap ones out there. Looks good not only for water fun, but also for traveling. I can see using these for dirty laundry, wet clothing, shoes, in-room wash “machine,” even picnics. Lightweight. Pack up flat. Wish I had discovered these sooner.
My husband used a variety of these last summer on his sailing expedition. He had legal size ones for his paperwork, another for his passport, another for his sleeping bag, etc. I wasn't sure just what he would need so ordered a bunch on Amazon and think we are set for life, lol.
I was thinking that dry backpacks could be used by ultra-minimalists traveling on budget airlines. Just need to use packing cubes with them and no computer.

If you are in Switzerland and in Bern or Basel, for the river float, pick up a Wickelfisch.

Great photos on both links
Those Swiss bags are fun. Can double as body floatation aids when floating down river. Fun colors, different sizes.
I have a drybag I bought from REI that I usually pack. It is in the range of 4-6 liters. The uses I have found?
- Great for packing wet items (laundry that does not dry, swimsuits or towels)
- Just as good for packing dirty clothes
- Have used it to find some rare ice and use as a cooler for beer or wine
- Packing items like a recorked bottle of wine, or other items that may "leak"
- As a "beach bag", keeps sand and water out.
- Use as a "packing cube"
I use the ones meant for carrying diapers. They are inexpensive and often have cute designs. They probably arent as hardy as the bags designed for whitewater rafting, but they keep my damp swimsuit from getting the rest of my cloths wet.
@Paul,
Thanks for input. Good ideas. REI bags were briefly referenced in above video. Good review on those.
@ Cerastz. Diapers -sure. I think I know the type of bag. I have some cheap vinyl “mesh” zip top bags, in various sizes, that work for traveling - but not for underwater or floating. Highly water resistant. But, not waterproof. For waterproof - roll top is the way to go.
