I'm looking for an expandable, lockable, not too heavy, durable, front opening (NOT clam shell) style preferably a hybrid or hard sided spinner carry-on that I could check, if needed, as I usually bring my little dog in cabin in a convertible backpack kennel.
At 76 most of my use is in airports and road trips, but having said that; I do travel to Italy with my dog to visit family. So, occasionally there could be some rough surfaces requiring good quality wheels.
I have been looking at the Biaggi runway hybrid carry on (5.9lbs); and the 4MYTU Tank Carry-on (8lbs). I've also looked at several others. I don't require the tech compartment (probably would put something else in it) because, again, frequently will check the bag.

Briggs & Riley ZDX spinner, 5.4 lbs., really like it. Expands, easily lockable with aftermarket locks, wheels and general construction seem very sturdy. Compression straps and other sundry pockets inside. Two sizes, we have the smaller International carry on. I have black, my wife the grey-blue. Last time hers was gate checked it got a slight grease scuff in the fabric, came off with a little 409. Been on 4 multi airport / train international trips and 2 US. Look brand new. Not inexpensive compared to what others on here travel with. Lifetime guarantee. Highly recommend.
I love my Travel Pro carry on spinner. Not sure of the model name but "light" is in the model name and it weighs 5.4 lb.
It is expandable. As I recall it was about $135.
Thank you, I think the Briggs and Riley is well made sure. I thought it was a clam shell but perhaps not.
For sure I'll take a look, again at the travel pro . ;-
Thanks, again
I see that the Biaggi runway hybrid is on sale at the Biaggi site - 219.99 (37% off)
