Carry on for budget airlines

Has anyone used Rick's rolling carry on bag with Westjet or Easyjet? Did this bag pass their carry on restrictions? Thanks!

The best thing you can do it measure your PACKED bag to see how it measures out. The budget airlines are specific and strict about size restrictions.

Here's Easyjet's info:
easyJet Hand Luggage Allowance. Each passenger is allowed one piece of hand baggage on-board. The easyJet hand luggage size is 56 x 45 x 25 cm, including the wheels and any handles.

So that's 22x17.7x9.8.

Keep this in mind, its important.

When Easyjet says you are allowed one piece of carryon, they mean ONE, not a roll on bag PLUS a purse. I crammed my puse into my carry on,so make sure there is room to do so if you expect to take a purse or camera bage plus a carry on

The money you save by flying the European budget air carriers is well worth packing extra light. You'd be surprised what you can squeeze into a suitcase.

But I suggest you pay attention to their published weight limits as well. I was caught carrying 11 kg. onto a plane in Oslo and had to offload 1 kg. into my wife's bag--with the gate agent making an example out of me in front of a long line of travelers.

"I suggest you pay attention to their published weight limits"

According to the EasyJet website, "There is no weight restriction for cabin baggage."

A few points...

For a little extra, you can buy an upgraded ticket on Easyjet that allows you to take a personal item on board and choose a seat.

Before buying a ticket on a discounter, check the price of all airlines flying that route. Not just the fare, but all the extras. I recently booked a flight on Aer Lingus that was cheaper than Ryanair after piling on all the Ryanair extras.

Every airline has their own carry-on rules. And sometimes you have to check. As an example, I'm flying Luxair later this month and they have a 7 kg weight limit. Very few people could meet that. (Very few people outside the state of Colorado.)

I upgraded to what they call the "Upfront" upgrade which allows you to bring a second item on board. The slightly confusing thing is you don't see Upfront spelled out on your ticket anywhere. The only way I knew to check was to look at the seating chart again and see that the zone I am sitting is called "Upfront".
