Through a Facebook group, I just learned about this backpack. It looks spacious and well made. I tried to find online reviews (aside from the more than 1K on Portland's site and have come up short. Wondering if anyone out there has tried it.
I have had the compact version for about 6 months and love it! The best feature is the top opening, which magically stays open. It has a luggage sleeve and makes an easy to wheel "unit" when on the carry-on handles.
The compact version complies with more stringent personal item dimensions. It holds a lot! I appreciate that it doesn't have lots of pockets. And it's really well made.
Bon voyage!, how are the straps for comfort?
Hi. SandraL- I haven't used it as a conventional backpack in any of my travels. I just sling the straps on one shoulder like a purse or tote, so can't offer more insight, apologies! I also use a very small crossbody purse (phone, travel wallet) so that has worked well.
They don't have padding and can tuck away, there is a handle option on top. Just standard straps?
I have this bag and I find it to be fantastic. I mainly use it for daily bicycle riding. It’s great to pick up a couple days worth of groceries or to go containers. I usually ride about 15 miles with it on my back, usually with about five, but no more than 10 pounds in it. I find the straps to be very comfortable. I did have a failure of one of the front zippers, but customer service replaced it without any issues at all. It’s not on par with the top-tier bags in terms of quality, but it’s a great bag. Why expensive bag companies continue to use offbrand zippers is beyond me! While I very much enjoy the bag, I feel like the quality is more on par with something in the $40-$50 price range. That being said, I don’t regret spending $100 on it given the practicality I get out of it and the top notch customer service.
n64andrew1--thanks for weighing in on this!
