Another Roka post

So now I'm in Lewes, and a little quirky shop called Wickle has Roka bags. I bought a Canfield in Smoke, and a Carnaby XL in Mars Red. Did I need either of them? Heck no.

But they called to me...and I replied with a resounding, yes, i said yes I will!

Apologies to James Joyce.

Yay, Sandra! You have joined the exclusive club of Roka bag owners! And I totally get that about them calling to you. They started calling to me back in 2023 on the Isle of Iona, when I saw my first bag in the shop there. I finally answered the call in England this year.

Yep, welcome to the club, and the street cred! I’ve got 2 already and have been trying to control myself by buying them for friends…

Today in Brighton I encountered the Trafalgar tote. I like the size and the interior water bottle pocket. Does anyone have one of these?

Confession: I feel a little disloyal to Tom Bihn. I have a zip top shop bag that's been a mainstay on this trip and others, and a Pop Tote with a Pickuo Truck inside that I take to work every day. I feel like I should not like other bags!

"I feel like I should not like other bags!"

Oh gosh, Sandra! That made me laugh. It's OK to cheat on Tom. Maybe he's not holding up his side of your relationship and is taking you for granted, hahaha!

Enjoy your new purchases! A friend emailed me this morning to tell me she'd gotten a new bag and essentially said ...."What IS it about new bags"????

Thank you! As my husband has said, you can never have enough bags. Lol

Hi all, just curious, saw a cute shop in Beaufort NC that carries Ori London bags. I’m tempted, but are they the same as the Roka version you all have been so enthusiastically talking about? Quick search said it’s the same company- US version- but wanted to know if anyone had one and if it was as well made, durable, etc?

A quick Look at the Ori London website suggests yes, they are the same as ROKA.

Under “Our Story” it says this:

In 2020, ROKA decided to bring their bags to the US under the brand name ORI, the name of their first child – with exactly the same ethos, values and quality as the parent brand ROKA

Good to know Golden Girl. I’m going to think on it. I may wait till we go next spring. At least I could see the sizes while here. They didn’t have much in terms of a color selection as well.

@Mustlovedogs....I ordered an ORI from their online shop after Mardee got me all whipped up in a fever. It's slightly heavier than I like but I'm getting used to it. The hardware and strap are very sturdy and there is a vinyl piece across the bottom to protect the fabric. So far I'm happy with it even though I wish the interior was a lighter color.

I have the crossbody Kennington in Seaport.

The weight is what I was considering. I love the design and it seems very durable, but as with many things I assume the durability comes at a price weight wise. The one I think was the most fitting for my purposes was the medium size- the Canfield I believe. It was priced at $91, so not marked up too much.

@MustLove...my comparison is a similarly sized Baggallini. The Baggallini's strap is not as heavy nor is the hardware. I do not know which I'll take on my next European trip but I've got a few months to decide. The colors are yummy.

I can't speak for the crossbody, but my Canfield backpack is pretty light. The other two day packs I have are both heavier. Hold on and I'll weigh it.

Okay, it came in at 1 lb., 2 oz. Of course I had to remove everything to weigh it. Sigh. See what I do for you guys? All in the name of buying bags. ;-)

Thanks for taking the time to weigh your bag mardee! I appreciate it!! I’m thinking I may wait to try and find one there or order online so I can get a better color. They only had the bright yellow in the medium size. I love colors, but that might be a bit brighter than I like. The styling is so great though, I can see why people love it!

Oops, I did it again. At Heathrow, I bought a Trafalgar tote in black. Now I'm wondering how much I'm actually going to use it. I do like it so I need to take it for a spin. Eeek
