I am trying to decide between 2 canal tours. Those Dam Boat Guys or Captain Jack. Any pros/cons?
We had a great time with Those Damn Boat Guys this past spring, but it is a more adult tour. Haven't done the other company.
Those Damn Boat Guys did book up ahead of time, as the boats are smaller, ( maybe about a dozen folks, total.)
Have a great time, either way. Safe travels!
We took the Captain Jack tour and were happy with it. Around a dozen people on the boat with a friendly guide, free beer/wine, cookies and snacks. It was the only boat tour we did in Amsterdam so can’t compare it to anything else but we were satisfied. I thought it was a smaller boat than many others we saw.
This is a tad confusing as there are two canal tours with a Jack as captain. One is Captain Jack and the other is this one, http://amsterdamprivateboattour.com . We went with Jack last February and it was excellent!!! You can read my review as well as others in the reviews section as quite a few people have taken it as well. Their website now says they have made some changes, and even that looks good and I didn't think it could be improved, lol. Anyway, we did the shared cruise but the night we went it was only the 2 of us. He had drinks and snacks for us. The cruise went 90 minutes and Jack is very engaging, so it was a really fun night. We were staying at a hotel right on a canal, so he dropped us off right in front of it at the end which was especially nice.
Hi — One more vote for the Drift Away with Jack canal cruise. Here’s a link to my post from last fall with responses:

Have a great trip to Amsterdam!
Thanks all!
Captain Jack from the Drift Away has merged with Bow's Journeys. I had emailed with him last week to confirm, and he explained that there was a lot of confusion with another Captain Jack, and now his company is part of Bow's Journeys. You can find them online. The Drift Away can be rented for private parties, and his new boat, the Sophie, is the shared cruise. We booked him for our April trip.
After some research I found out that Dan Boat Guys allow smoking, while Capt. Jack does not. That made up my mind because I can't stand smoking.
Charlotte--Yes, and not just cigarettes;) Either of these would be a deal breaker for me as well.
