Hotel in Leiden?

Hi all!

We will be in Leiden for 3 nights in early June. Anyone have any hotels they particularly liked? A cool breakfast would be awesome too.

Unless anyone thinks another small town near Amsterdam is a better choice? :)

Thank you!

In Leiden, we stayed at Boutique Hotel D'Oude Morsch. Highly recommended. It's centrally located (right near a lovely windmill!) and within easy walking distance of the train station in one direction and the best sites in Leiden the other way. And the breakfast is fantastic!

We also spent 3 days in Leiden in June 2024 and we loved it. It's definitely quieter than Amsterdam (which was exactly what we wanted for that part of our trip), but still has a lively university town feel, along with some great history and charming canals. It's a great place to be as the town itself merits exploration, and it's very easy to get to Delft, The Hague, Rotterdam, etc. on easy day trips by train.

It's about 40 minutes by train to Amsterdam so day trips there would be doable, but we chose to stay a few nights in Amsterdam after staying in Leiden which was a nice balance.

I'd strongly recommend Steenhof Suites. Lovely hotel, great room, and a nice breakfast. Leiden was a wonderful place to visit and well located with plenty to see and do.

We also stayed at Steenhof suites, right on a canal. Great breakfast and staff, but no lifts, as it's an historical building. And a one block walk to the bus stop, atm, and grocery store. Two blocks to the main canal and restaurants. Enjoy!
