Hi we have an upcoming mediterranean cruise (May 1 - 15) and were recently informed that the departure port of Venice has been changed to the port of Trieste. We plan on flying into Venice a couple of days before our cruise. Would someone be able to recommend the best way to travel from Venice to Trieste - the distance is 95 miles. Thank you

There are frequent trains from Venice (Santa Lucia) to Trieste (Centrale), taking 2 hours. They are regional trains, so no booking is needed.
You can then probably take a taxi from the station to the harbor in Trieste, depending on where the ship is (some quays look to be within walking distance from the station, but I have no on-the-ground knowledge there).

In addition to train transportation another option is GoOpti shuttle. We took this service from Venice to Ljubljana in 2018. They offer the Venice >Trieste route as well. We were very pleased with the convenience, punctuality, and pricing. We would hire them again.

Another way is Flix Bus directly from the airport to the train depot in Trieste. Buy tickets in advance on their app for lowest price.
