Venice restaurant for dinner

Your experiences with great food in Venice . Where would you return for dinner? Not looking for high end fancy but really good food and service. TIA

Trattoria da Giorgio ai Greci served us the best complimentary peach bellinis as we waited for our table. And we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

We return time and again to Nono Risorto and Trattoria da Remigio. They are quite different from each other, to say the least.

Nonno risorto gets my vote. Make reservations and ask for a table on the top level.

Consider arranging for a cicchetti tour. Check out https://www.schezzini.it/ for getting in touch with Alessandro Schezzini, whom you have probably seen on Rick's show. It's a super basic website, but you just need to email him to reserve a date. I've seen lots of great reviews of his tour here in the forum.

I think we did a cicchetti tour on our own many years back using places mentioned in Rick's book and enjoyed what we found. But going with Alessandro as a guide sounds like a better shot at really getting the most our of your time.

We had excellent food and service at Osteria Mocenigo very near San Stae Vaporetto stop. Reservations should be made as they are always busy. For a more casual meal Muro San Stae was good.

We stumbled into Al Vecio Marangon. Wonderful little place, I'd return again, hands down! (to find the name of it I just scrolled through my photos again--my mouth is watering at the photos--thanks for bringing up this memory!)

But wait! there's more. From the RS guidebook: Ristorante La Bitta--it serves little (or no?) seafood at all. The dishes were unexpected and delicious. The woman who waited on us gave me a look of disappointment when we said we were full from dinner and said, "Next time, dolce." Agreed--Next time, Dolce as well!

I agree with JodiF Al Vecio Marangon is a wonderful spot, great ambiance and delicious food. Small and gets busy but they always try to accommodate you. We were staying next door and that’s how we came across it had dinner there a couple of nights, best dinners we had while in Venice.
