Venice 5 night, Florence 6 night, san Vito lo capo or Cefalu? near 5 night

I like to really get to know a city. We will be visiting friends in Agrigento in Palermo. We would like to go to Florence with a day trip to Rome as we have stayed in Rome several times and we are looking for a city near Palermo, maybe San Vito lo capo or Cefalu.

As you can see by the subject line, we do not like to rush around. We like to really enjoy rest on our vacation between going out and about. We enjoy good food- fish and meats and fruits and vegetables as the main courses. I would love suggestions related to our own slower traveling style. Please do not reply that we are spending too long in these areas. We will be in Europe for an entire month starting with the former exchange student visit in Kassel Germany. We have already spent much time selecting the cities.

******trying to do home exchange for all of it, but not having much luck yet with locating places with availability.

The month of September 2025 in this order…

Early Sept Kassel (place confirmed) 5 nights
Mid Sept Venice 5 nights
Mid sept Florence 5 night
Fly into Sicily ( Palermo or catania depending)
Mid sept Agrigento visit friend
Mid-sept week Sept San Vito lo capo or Cefalu?
Late sept Palermo 3 night visit friend
Sept 29 return car- fly to airport hotel in Germany

Near Palermo I like Scopello, which is right on the southern end of the Zingaro Reserve, if you are interested in beaches (more than beaches they are pebbly coves). Scopello is well located also for day trips to various places in western Sicily (i.e. Segesta, Selinunte, Erice, Trapani, etc.). Scopello is a very tiny small town, if you stay a week in town, you will become part of the locals. If you prefer a bigger town in the same area, then Castellammare del Golfo is a good choice.

San Vito Lo Capo has arguably the most beautiful beach in Italy (at least according to most rankings). However it's a bit isolated from the rest, therefore if you intend to use it as a base to visit other parts of Western Sicily, it will take a bit longer to drive anywhere else. So the decision is yours, based on what you want to do with your time. If you want to make it a beach vacation, then it should be your no. 1 destination.

Cefalù is one famous quaint small town. The beach is nice too. Excellent choice also, but, like San Vito Lo Capo, it takes a bit longer to drive from there to other important destinations.

Regarding Sicily, thank you for the advice because beaches are not important to us. Our exchange student recommended the towns, but she loves. We don’t intend to hang out on the beach.

If you also want to enjoy the beach and the sea go to San Vito lo Capo. Both are splendid and you can also visit Trapani and Erice easily from there because San Vito itself is very small.
Cefalù is a more complete town because there's more to do - there's also the historical centre, it's bigger with more choice of restaurants even though the beach/sea are not as spectacular. It's also easy to day trip to Palermo by train, but you already intend to spend some nights there. This is a day trip we did in the opposite direction:
