'Vatican train non-stop' express

I read in Rick Steves Mediterranean Cruise Port Guide about a daily round trip express train to San Pietro Station, (from Civitavecchia) designed for cruise travellers, which cost 16 euro round trip. Can you advise me if this train will be running on 31st August this year, as my cruise ship will be docking in Civitavecchia on that day.

Thank you.

Go to Trenitalia.com and insert "Civitavacchia" and "Roma" as your departure and arrival stations. (Today I could NOT get Trenitalia to work if I input "Roma San Pietro" although it should). Most of the trains to Roma Termini or Ostiense stop in San Pietro. Click on the little "i" in a circle by the train number and it will show you the stops. The Regionale Veloce departs Civitavecchia at 08:42 and arrives at San Pietro at 09:24, for example.Prices are as low as Euro 10.00 roundtrip in 2nd class.

There is a Freccia train at 11:18 that happens to be nonstop between Civitavecchia anf Rome San Pietro, It originates in Genoa and goes to Rome Termini, so I don't think it has anything to do with cruise passengers.
There is a Regionale Veloce train that is not nonstop, but almost as fast, at 43 or 44 past the hour, every hour. There is also a Regionale train that makes more stops at 56 past the hour (most hours, there are exceptions).
These trains cost 4.60 EUR each way, so there is no reason to wait for a special train. Take the next available train. IC and Freccia trains cost more than Regionale trains, but there are only a few every day.

They aren't non-stop trains. Except for one non stop high speed FrecciaBianca (which takes 30 min to San Pietro, but costs 15.50 euro one way), they are all 'regional' commuter trains that make stops at various stations along the way. Make sure you board one that stops at the Roma San Pietro station. Approach the exit a little bit before the train stops. The trains stops just for a few seconds at each station. I think your best source is www.trenitalia.com. Forget the others.
