Planning a quick trip to Rome (after Sicily) September 18-21 and are so confused by the available Vatican ticket options. Of course, the basic entry tickets are sold out. We are not particularly interested in a guided tour. Available options include: Breakfast at the Museum; Lunch at the Museum; and Vatican City Tour + Museum - Open Bus. Does anyone have experience and/or feedback to share? Thank you.

Yes, thanks, have seen those posts. We are specifically interested to know if anyone has experience with the currently available options: breakfast, lunch, bus tour. Thanks so much
Hey, my wife and I did the Prime experience with breakfast. I normally do not like doing guided tours either but loved this one. We met at the Vatican Museum at 7:30. 2 hours before it opened. We had a group of about 20 and we started the tour. Told us some really cool stories about some of the pieces. Explained the rooms we were in becuase they use to be apartments for previous Popes. Then you also go into the Sistine Chapel before it opens. You go in and sit down on the benches and they explain what each painting means as well as the restoration that went on in the chapel. Then you have some free time to look at the ceiling on your own. Since it is before it opens you are actually allowed to talk while in there. After the chapel the tour continues through the museum a little bit more and then you go for breakfast. They provide whatever drink you want as well as scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon and breads. Then once breakfast is over you can continue to explore whatever you like in the museum. I highly recommend the the experience.
Thank you so much!
Failing earlier response…and feeling anxious…we booked the Vatican City Tour + Museum Tickets - Open Bus tickets. Your feedback sounds awesome and now we have buyer’s regret. Have fingers crossed it will work out.
Thanks again.
