Vatican Museum Tickets

I've been on the Vatican Museum site trying to buy single admission tickets for September 22nd and it is the only option that is not bookable. The very same tickets are sold out for every day earlier that week. We do not want to do any of the tours that are offered.

Also, I've seen various tour companies offering tickets, with no tour, which allow you to bypass the incredibly long general admission lines. Should I trust this? Are there any options like this that people would recommend?

Thanks, in advance, for any guidance you can provide.

Sept 22 comes up for me as "Not bookable" for single admission tickets. That means they haven't gone on sale yet for that day. They should come up very soon though, and should sell out quickly if the "sold out" days before the 22nd are any indication. I'd keep a frequent, sharp eye on the site for when booking for that day becomes active. My guess would be on Monday but that's just a guess so keep checking.

We were unable to purchase tickets from the Vatican website for our party of five (frankly, that was my fault as I waited so late) but were able to purchase them for The Tour Guy. We just wanted tickets, not a tour and everything went smoothly; from cost of tickets to meeting the "tour guide" who escorted us in and obtained our tickets From there we were on our way.

This must be what you purchased:

That's fine but a shame you didn't wait for the Vatican's own tickets to open up? ALL of their pre-purchased tickets skip the ticket lines, just as the Tour Guy's do (No one at all skips the security queue) so you paid a lot more: $43.68 per adult versus the abt. $21.45 you would have paid through the Vatican's own site.

Just as a side note, general entry tickets for Sept. 22nd must have become available sometime after my last post. Checking this morning, they're sold out except for 14:00 and 15:00 entry times, low availability, and going fast.

It appears the calendar only goes out through December. Does anyone know for sure how far ahead the calendar is posted to purchase tickets? Just want to make sure I'm on top of this for trip in May. Afraid I will forget, so want to set reminder! Thanks!

I believe they open for purchase at midnight Rome time 60 days before....they sell out in an hour or so.
