Uffizi/Academia Reservations

Hi everyone--
I am looking for some guidance in helping solve a small snafu that is stressing me out for summer 2022 travel planning. Every piece of advice I've read says book the Uffizi in Florence ASAP. I have not been able to get the rather glitchy website booking service to work (either hanging me up at the "personalization" page where I need to enter the names of my party or not processing payment), so I called internationally and they say they are not taking reservations into the summer at this point (though the website does allow you to select dates into the summer. Any recommendations about a workaround or does anyone know when tickets for July 2022 will be available if I call back?

Assuming you are on the official site, can't you just wait? Since There are tickets available for tomorrow, why stressing for a Museum that obviously doesn't sell out months in advance?

Do make sure you are on official site as a Dario has linked

I was just able to put tix for a date in mid July into my cart
There were a couple hundred available for just that 15 min time slot
I wouldn’t worry about getting shut out

Prior to the pandemic, I would have suggested making reservations in advance (Perhaps not six months in advance.) But these times......I would just wait. Monitor to see how it is going and when tickets sales start to pick up for your date, buy them.

We used the Firenze Card both times were were in Florence. Each time we found a dedicated line at the Uffizi and we walked right in without delay. The Firenze Card also gave us access to many other top sites so its worth looking into .http://www.firenzecard.it/en

Jack, the museums aren't currently taking the Firenzecard and haven't for most of the pandemic period. From the card's website:

http://www.firenzecard.it/en

"At this moment, the Firenzecard Circuit has not yet been reactivated in order to allow the completion of the reopening plan of the participating museums and sites, and the Firenzecard cannot be used for access to the museums."

No indication of when or if the card will be active again.

bmaryman, July is a LONG way off so as the others have advised, make sure you're using the official ticketing site, and give it some time.

Thanks Kathy, I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. We are all having to relearn how to do Europe these days. My first trip was amazing so I am being positive about my next "first trip." Good luck and happy travels!

Isn't THAT the truth, Jack! Hard to keep up with all the continually shifting changes, eh? Eeesh.
Good for you for staying positive!
Now if they'd they'd just allow my previously fave Florence visitor's card (Amici degli Uffizi) to cover as many museums as it once did... :O(

You could write to "that German Guy" who works at the Uffizi: ga-uff.segreteria@beniculturali.it He could even reply, Stranger things have happened in Florence during the last 600 years...

LOL, Dario! You mean Eike Schmidt? Just so happens that he was curator of the Sculpture, Applied and Textile Arts Department at the Minneapolis Institute of Art - our very nice local art museum - before being selected to run the Uffizi. Didn't get the pleasure of actually meeting the man while he was in residence here but was very pleased for his appointment to oversee one of the world's most famous collections. Yay for him.

Because of the amount of time-consuming refunds (where refunds were possible) ticketing attractions experienced due to shifting COVID mandates/cancelled trips, I know that some other ticketing sties have pulled back on how far in advance they're currently selling tickets. Coopculture in Rome, for instance, is currently only selling tickets to the Colosseum on a rolling weekly schedule; the furthest out tickets are available today is January 26th. I expect that to change at some point but exactly when is anyone's best guess.

Same as here, staffing has also been a challenge for some attractions, likely due to people being out sick. The Duomo in Florence has been intermittently closed for tourism for that reason, and has a notice on their website that unexpected closures can occur at any time.

So don't panic! If bmaryman was told on the phone that they're not selling tickets for summer, it would make sense that they're not selling them online yet either. Just get registered on the b-ticket site and check it now and again for the dates you're needing, OK?

I emailed the gallery yesterday about the "error" messages at check out. I received a reply which simply suggested I try another browser. Which of course didn't work. I'm trying for April 2022 tickets...which doesn't seem too far out. But maybe, as others have suggested, there is too much uncertainty.

Because this appears to be an issue for several of you, I'll point you in the direction of Sarah's new thread....

....as a good place to stay abreast of potential solves for this issue, assuming it's not a "too early" problem. We know the OP here was told on the phone that they were not selling tickets for summer yet. Has anyone asked them how far in advance they ARE selling tickets?
