Uffizi Tix Problem

Hopefully this will resolve with time. But I have been trying to buy Uffizi Gallery tix for the past two days. On the official website. Keep getting an error after putting in payment information. I contacted the gallery via email. Not much help. Any ideas? I'm trying to buy 4 tix for 4/20/22. Thanks

Did you check all the "terms of service" and "privacy" boxes?

Did you warn your bank you are making a transaction overseas? They may have flagged it as a potential fraud and blocked it.

What about the Verified by Visa security protocol (or its Mastercard equivalent), can your card provider manage it via text messages like EU cards?

Could you be inadvertently using the google translated version of B-ticket's page?

You may be doing many different mistakes, "an error" isn't enough to understand what happened. For now, try another browser.

OK, it could be that you're trying to buy them too far in advance but as this issue has come up a couple of other times this past week or so, I did some digging. These suggestions came up on a TripAdvisor thread posted by someone having the same issue (my thanks to Luigi who offered them up ):

Assuming you are on b-ticket, the only authorized site to sell the
Uffizi tickets... Assuming that you checked both times the privacy
box... Assuming you are using the English version of the site and not
the google translated italian version... Assuming that you registered
as a foreign citizen and filled all the mandatory fields...

if the error message pops up after you have entered your credit card
number, it may be a problem of the third layer security protocols for
online purchases....

That 3rd-level security protocol might be the culprit. It has been an issue before for people attempting to buy tickets abroad. Dario's suggestion to try another browser is a good one as well.

Hi Dario: I've seen your other post about this issue on another thread. And I followed your link to be sure I was on the right page. Which I was. The website loads a little wonky using Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox. So I don't know if the browser is the problem.
Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I have tried all of these. Except for this one: "Could you be inadvertently using the google translated version of B-ticket's page?" Can you tell me more about this because I think it may be the case.

This happened to me and it was my credit card company that was blocking the payment request.

Hi Kathy: I called my bank to ask them if there was an issue with the Bticket site. Nope. They have no issues. The third security layer is something I'm not familiar with. Can you tell me more about this?

If you've already tried different browsers, try a different credit card. Try every credit card you have. (It can't hurt.)

Try using a different device--tablet computer, smartphone PC. I've had to do that buying US event tickets a couple of times.

It may well be a card-security issue, but these other potential solutions are easy, and you might get lucky.

Tried my phone. Tried my son's computer. Tried several credit cards. Tried prayer and fasting [lol]. I'm going to try a different way to communicate with the Uffizi directly. I suspect I was speaking to tech folks and not actual museum admins? Also hoping somebody else in the forum has found the workaround.

You must call your bank and ask to speak with somebody who knows about Verified-by-Visa (or Mastercard Secure Code) security protocols. The front office staff that answers the phone may have never heard about it. In EU we receive a text with a PIN code when we make online purchases on new sites, it's called "double layer of security" and now it's mandatory.

I don't know how to explain you the way to turn Chrome's auto-translate off. Did you pick English from the drop-down menu the first time you visited b-ticket's page? If not, you are using the auto-translated version of the page.

FWIW, I was in Paris trying to buy train tickets online from a British company. I couldn't get any of my (many) credit cards to work, and Paypal wouldn't work either. They couldn't explain it and were of no help. So what should be simple, isn't always.

Perhaps ask your hotel for help? Or the concierge could buy them for you and you reimburse them?
