Trouble buying Uffizi & Accademia Tickets Online

Hi All,
I just tried to purchase tickets to both museums online. I tried first on my mac & after entering my credit card info I got a page that said not a secure website. Then I tried on my Samsung tablet, again, not a secure website. I have no option to "chance it". Has anyone else experienced this? Is my only other option to call & book? Thank you in advance for your advice. Katie

Katie, what website are you using? This is the "official" ticketing site:

http://www.b-ticket.com/b-ticket/uffizi/default.aspx

If you were already using that site, it may be a "verified by Visa" problem with your card as that has been an issue for the Vatican and some other ticketing sites so see this thread?

I wouldn't think that's your issue as you're getting the "not a secure website" message but I'm no techie, either.

Yes, Kathy. That is the website I am trying. I have gotten a Visa verified before, where you enter your "Visa Password". That wasn't it either. Once I hit purchase after entering my cc info, it took me to a white page that simply said, This webiste has not been verified as secure & something like hackers can break into this site & use your information. The only option was Back To Safety. It has happened on my mac before. Usually, I just go onto my tablet & don't have a problem. But lo & behold, it happened there too.

I'm also thinking it could have been temporary. Today, using the Microsoft Edge browser on a desktop computer, I get to the payment screen with no warnings.

I just tried again & got the same message, which I took a picture of but don't know how to attach it. This is what it says:
Your connection is not private
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from secure5.arcot.com (for example, passwords, message or credit cards) net::errcertauthority_invalid
Back to safety

Guess I will be calling Italy in the near future. :(

Laura, this is after the payment screen. When trying to process the credit card info I put in.

Just tried on Safari (for Macs)
This time I didn't even get to enter in my credit card info, right after I select payment method VISA I got:
Safari can't open the page because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server, ipg.constriv.com

Arg, how frustrating. Have you purchased anything else online recently without this problem?

I have to think it's on your end somehow 'cause so many people buy these tickets. If tons of others were having the same problem recently, we'd see complaints all over the travel forums (RS, TA, etc.) and I'm not seeing any. I'm a tech no-mind but sometimes just checking to see that you're running the most updated version of browser + clearing the cache can solve some problems.

Any ideas, Laura?

The best way to get tickets to the Uffizi and Accademia is through your hotel. When we made reservations we simply let them know the day and the time we needed tickets and the tickets were waiting for us upon our arrival at the Hotel.

Couldn't be simpler and all the hotels are familiar with providing this service.

It sure is nice to walk by all the people standing in line "hoping" to get tickets.. and yes you walk right in.. the Rick Steves way.

That can work unless one's accommodation has minimal desk service, is an apartment or B&B. It's also concerning should Katie need to pre-book tickets elsewhere on her trip.

Thank you. I emailed the Hotel where we will be staying & was able to get the tickets through them. Thank you all for you help.
