When our tour ends in Orta we want to go on to Stresa - how do you go about getting there? Our tour ends at the end of October
While the tour guide is working on setting up transport for folk to get to Milan airport, perhaps he can set you up with a ride to Stresa
May be worth a call to the RS office to see if that's possible

Day 14: Tour Over After Breakfast
Breakfast is provided, but there are no group activities today. Milan's closest airport, Malpensa, is 60–90 minutes away by taxi. Your guide will help coordinate transportation to Malpensa, leaving you well prepared for the road ahead.
You can take train or bus from Orta to Stresa. It's not the most straightforward trip but can be done on either in a couple of hours. Look at rome2rio.com for the possibilities and then, yes, get help from your tour guide to figure it out.
There's a direct bus in summer but looks unlikely to operate past Sept. 9.
You may be able to take an 8:00 bus with connection at Gravellona Toce, but re-confirm schedules locally, since these are also for summer: http://www.stnnet.it/novaradomodossola.html plus http://www.comazzibus.com/orario.php?p=56.
Trains take a long route toward Switzerland before making a connection.
Taxi costs $35-45 per Rome2rio.com
Ednnora,
There is no direct train from Orta to Stresa. There's a direct bus but it does not run past the middle of September.
I actually traveled from Baveno ( just North of Stresa) to Lake Orta ( Late September 2017) via train. I had to transfer trains in Cuzzago, an abandoned tiny station in the middle of NOWHERE.
I'd NOT recommend transferring at any of the small train stations along this route as I was told that most of them are unmanned and deserted.
I ended up taking a taxi (I walked into a hotel on Piazza Motta and the nice young woman at the front desk arranged it for me) from Lake Orta back to Stresa and the cost was €50. I didn't mind paying this mainly because I didn't want to end up on a deserted train station again!
If you're interested, you can read about my experience on this post.
I'm sure your hotel staff will be happy to arrange a taxi or a private transfer for you.
Have a wonderful trip!
