Transportation from FCO to Rome (Piazza Navona area)

What would be the cheapest option for a family of four to get from FCO to Rome (Piazza Navona area)?

If you're staying at a hotel in Rome, ask their concierge about a private driver. Our hotel arranged for a private car hire for 2 of us for 60 euros from FCO to the Pantheon area. The driver was waiting at the Arrivals area with a sign with our name, and we avoided the taxi queue at FCO which can have a long wait time in line.

And by taxi, what you want is to go to the official taxi queue, ignore all the touts telling you they have a taxi waiting, and get a Rome city taxi (as opposed to a Fiumicino based taxi). Verify the cost, and have a card with the hotel address on it printed out.

I have not taken the taxi in Rome, but it is usually just the two of us, and I usually take the FL1 to Trastevere for about 8 euro per person, but for you, the taxi works.

You can take the local train from the airport to the Trastevere station (about 10€ each ticket) and then walk across the intersection to take the tram 8 down to Lago Argentina (about 1.50€) each. From there, you walk about 6 blocks to get to Piazza Navona. It’s an adventure, but always the way we travel to the historic district.
