Hello all,
I don't see any recent questions about this.
My hotel is near the Trevi fountain. They have an airport shuttle to/from airport. The charge is 90 euro. We have 3 in our group with normal amount of luggage. I'm wondering about how much a taxi would be from the airport to our hotel?
Suggestions please and thank you.
Fixed rate for a taxi between Rome city center (within the Aurelian Walls) and FCO € 55
Just go outside terminal to the official taxi rank-do not be misled by anyone offering a taxi outside of the official line
Hand the driver your hotel address and go
All taxis are required to take credit cards so confirm with the driver that the ”machine is working”
Or you can pay cash
No tip required
For return to FCO have your hotel call a taxi
Thank you, Mary and Christine. That is exactly what I was needing to know.
A shuttle is always a terrible choice in Rome. I still have nightmares about the shuttle that go tlost trying to find the last pick up and nearly caused us to miss the plane. They didn't care. If I had not b ooked an hour earlier than recommended we would have missed our plane. The driver was literally stopping and asking little old ladies walking their dogs for information about the address.
Taxis -- fixed price, reliable. Or Termini Express which gets you there zip zip without issues.
Regarding ChristineH’s comment about the official taxi rank, watch out for the well-dressed woman speaking fluent English who saw that we had 3 people with luggage and approached us in January saying we needed an SUV. At first I thought she was going to move a larger taxi vehicle forward in the line but then she motioned for us to follow her away from the taxi rank. I said “official taxi” loudly a couple of times and what do you know, she suddenly vanished!
We then went through the official line and a regular hatchback taxi had room for all of us and our stuff.
Good luck!
