Transavia advice

Our delta flight back to the states includes a flight from catania to Amsterdam on transavia. Anyone have practical tips for this budget carrier? They already told me I can’t pick my seats.

We flew Transavia in 2019 from Amsterdam to Verona and we reserved our seats. Maybe try again and a different agent might give you a reason or let you reserve seats?

Transavia's website says:

How do I reserve a seat?
You can reserve a seat either directly when booking your flight, or later by logging into My Transavia. It is possible to reserve a seat until 30 hours before your flight departs. If you do not reserve a seat, you can choose from the remaining available seats when you check in online.

If you check in at the airport, we will assign you a seat. This may mean you and your travel companion(s) will not be seated next to one another.

Hello,

We flew Transavia from Catania to Amsterdam in March. We paid to check our suitcases and also paid to select our seats, have priority boarding and to be allowed to carry on our tote bags. This was a separate booking from our Delta flight from Amsterdam, so I'm not sure how it works when it's part of a Delta ticket. Hope this helps. Enjoy Sicily!

Here is what I wrote in a Trip Report earlier this year:

CTA to AMS on Transavia: Catania concourse was extremely crowded and HOT. One little café. Had to go outside and walk up stairs to get on plane. I know Transavia is a budget airline, but we paid extra for everything including priority boarding. They check your ticket and tag the 1st 70 bags as being guaranteed allowed on board. However, the flight attendant took our tote bags out of the overhead where we’d placed them and shoved them really roughly trying to get them to fit in other bins that were full of suitcases (we had paid to check ours). Ended up putting our backpack and tote under the seats in front of us. No big deal normally. Just felt kind of wrong since we’d paid extra to bring them onboard. Plane was a Boeing 737, similar to Southwest, no leg room at all. Would not fly with them again if given a choice. I think the rough shoving was what really bugged me.

I did communicate with their site and found our flight on the app. Unfortunately because it’s thru delta it’s a bit separate and I was told by their representative that I can’t reserve a seat. I was able to confirm luggage sizes. Of course American size carry ons are too big and will be checked.
