I will be traveling with 4 persons. We want to train from Cefalu to Palermo on a Thursday in October. Do you think it necessary to purchase train tickets on line? Or can we just wait until we arrive in Cefalu and purchase them the afternoon before for the next day of train travel? Thanks in advance for your advice.

No need to purchase online. You can buy at the station on the day of departure or the day before.

No need to pre-purchase. It's about an hour by train.
