Switzerland and Italy

My husband and I will be driving from Zurich to Italy and returning to Zurich iSeptember 18 - Oct 1

The plan:
Lucerne 1 night
Lauterbrunnen 3 nights (moderate hiking)
Murren 1 night
Lake Como 2 nights (hiking & biking)
Luca 4 nights

Leaving Luca to head back to Zurich on Sep 29 with a stop (somewhere) ??overnight, before staying at the Hilton at Zurich airport on the 30th
All accommodations are confirmed other than the 29th.

  1. Any suggestions on scenic routes and places to stop as we head to Lucerne and also the best route to Lauterbrunnen etc…..?
  2. Our preference is to stay on scenic and local routes to get a feel for the people and culture.
  3. Are reservations needed for vineyards etc… Thank you Sorry for all the detail

Since Murren overlooks Lauterbrunnen in the valley, maybe you should stay in just one or the other.
Lauterbrunnen has the parking lot. And you could just day trip to Luzern from there instead of booking one night in a hotel there.

Interlakken is great in Switzerland.

by Luca, do you mean Lucca, Italy? That is a bid distant from Switzerland, have you considered something with less travel.

We will have a Swiss Travel Pass as well, to add to the experience. A friend who lived in Switzerland for 3 yrs recommended an overnight in Murren. :)
