Santorini to Positano

I'm planning a family trip to Greece and Italy for mid-May (6 of us).

Our plan has us leaving Greece from Santorini and going to Positano. There are no direct flights to Naples. We are flying to Rome (FCO) via Athens on Aegean Air.

Currently, my plan was to take a train from FCO to Naples and then a driver from Naples to Positano with, possibly, a 2 or 3 hour stop in Pompeii.

That said, because of possible flight delays, I hesitate to buy saver tickets in advance as they are non refundable. That leaves me with paying a 'Base" fare which will be around €250 (total for 6) and I would imagine another € 200 for car service from Naples to Positano (maybe more with a stop in Pompeii).

Is anyone aware of a trustworthy car service that we could take all the way from Rome (FCO)? Between the train and car service we are at € 450. Could straight car service from Rome be that much more?

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi

I have a quote for mercedes benz transfer for three people rome to sorrento 450 euro, stop in pompeii 60 per hour. the company is mypositanoprivatecar.it

My niece successfully used a service called Positano Transfer during her honeymoon last summer but she only went positano to naples.

Hotel concierge in Sorrento recommended positanolimoservices.com the web site is very straight forward.

I have not personally used any of these services so i can't endorse, but i'm currenty doing similar research. I hope this helps.

Note that you can't fit six in a sedan, and black-windowed SUVs are not plentiful in southern Italy. The Frecciarossa trains cut almost two hours off the highway trip from Rome/Termini (to Naples), where the airport train leaves you.

I always ask my hotel for their land partner.

Note that the AC will already be congested by mid-May, with highway delays.

I'd be checking very carefully about what happens with the private transportation if your flight is cancelled or seriously delayed.

Depending on which day you fly Aegean Air has a direct JTR-NAP flight .
