Our family (4 people) will be staying in Sorrento 3 days, and would like to spend 1 day exploring/seeing Amalfi Coast. Can anyone recommend a reliable company/guide to take us on a day trip? We're thinking a semi-private tour would give us more flexibility. Is there such a thing? Thanks.
There is a new HOHO sightseeing service from Sorrento ie the "Coast to Coast" It goes from Sorrento to Amalfi via Positano and runs from April to October with 12 departures/returns per day. If you want to visit Ravello you need to catch a local bus (or the Amalfi -Ravello sightseeing bus) in Amalfi.

With luck it should take the pressure off the local transport system!
Just to cover the high end, in case that's what your meant, we asked the Hotel Ambasciatori to get us a car and driver for 8 hours from Sorrento. They called their provider, Eurotravel Sorrento +39 0818075895. We got an older gentleman with fine but not perfect English, Enzo, in an almost new Mercedes sedan, who took us to Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, and Scala, with free time of up to 1 1/2 hours in some of them. He obeyed our instructions not to go to the pottery store (except for the toilets), and we accepted his recommendation for the modest Green Grotto, which was OK.
This was 255 Euros plus our modest personal tip, but you should negotiate lower without the hotel's commission, of course. We were entirely satisfied, but I don't mean to say that it was a "Rick Steves" moment with the locals, or that he was the best guide on the peninsula! It sure beat waiting in line for jammed busses, sitting on the side of the bus with no view, and waiting for a bus home that was too full to accept any more riders! Just saying ...
