Traveling to Rome and staying near Piazza Navona and also near Spanish Steps. I read that best restaurants are small ones on side streets. Any recommendations in these two areas?
Thank you
Not far from the Spanish Steps is Nino which is very good. Someone on the RS forum recommended it and we ended up eating there twice on a recent trip. We liked Alfredo in years past but had an awful experience there last trip and will not try it again.
Lots of recent threads on this topic.

For authentic thin crust wood fired Roman pizza go to Baffetto, just a short walk from Piazza Navona.
Great place for lunch: Baguetteria del Fico
It's in Trastevere but well worth the short walk across the Tiber from Piazza Navona area: Carlo Menta. This is a very crowded place, crowded with locals. Two years ago a book was published about the historical, cultural and political place Carlo Menta enjoys in what makes Trastevere Trastevere. The food is delicious but not fussy. You can hit just about every area of the menu, including wine, and the bill will be less than 1/2 what you would spend any place else. Salvatore is my favorite waiter, Lily is the hostess. Now how many restaurants do you go to on vacation where you know the names of the staff!?!
Thank you again for the wonderful suggestions, Salut!!!
