Read this thread on the RS Forum. It may be your problem.

thanks Bob
It must be the "verified by Visa " issue
welp, they do not accept PayPal so I guess I have no alternative other than purchasing when we get there
what a pain
Try your search on tripadvisor.com's community forum - there's a long-running thread on this subject that addresses this issue.
thanks Donna
what search term should I use? info I am finding is years old
Click on the last page to view the most recent comments; at the top is the Rome expert's updated thread. Read her entire post - it answers a lot of questions; entry #21 mentions the Verified by Visa issue and provides a phone number for calling the ticket office directly. Good luck!
Thank you!
OK- so after reading thru TA advice I called the issuing bank to see fi there is anything they can do on this end. The answer is No. Card is already "Verified by Visa" etc.
So I tried to make the purchase using a diff browser- I had been using Safari- tried with Firefox and the purchase went thru.
I received an email from the cc authorization company saying purchase was authorized and an email from coop culture confirming my order- But it says that the tickets are attached in pdf and they are not. Nothing is attached. I did chose the "print at home" option. I have also checked my spam folder. Nothing.
So now what do I do? I have emailed coopculture to ask where the tickets are.
If they do not always attach the tickets then I guess that means I take this confirmation and line up at ticket window?
What is the purpose of purchasing in advance if I still have to do that? Or is there a diff window where I can pick up already purchased tickets?
Grrrr
Here is what the email says about tickets:
If you choose the delivery method: pick up at the ticket desk, show this form to the ticket office and pickup your tickets, starting at least one hour before the scheduled time entrance, except if you have purchased the open tickets and save any other indication provided during the purchase process.
If you booked a reduced or free entrance ticket you have to show your ID card at the ticket office, where your reduction will be verified.
If you choose the delivery method: print@home, attached to this email you will find the tickets in pdf format.
Tickets must be printed on A4 paper or, if you have a smartphone with a display of more than 3 inches, you can view it on your device and go directly to access control.<<
The whole purpose of purchasing in advance was to avoid having to spend an hour before entry getting the darn tickets.
I found this old thread- anyone know if this is still true?
Just take your confirmation with you and show it to the guard at the front of the lines. He will direct you accordingly. You won't wait in the long ticket lines, you already have tickets. Instead you'll go to the desk and have them printed out there. You'll still wait in any security line that may be there but there is no way to avoid that.
I believe the colosseum has stopped allowing the print at home option. Lots of people who have clicked that option haven't been sent the PDF. They may be working on a new system.

I sent an email to coopculture explaining that I hadn't received the pdf and they took care of the issue quickly.
I’ve also emailed them
Twice actually
