Photographing Paestum at Night

I'm interested in photographing the temples at Paestum at sunset or when its almost dark (the blue hour). Does anyone know if there are evenings that the park is open late in the summer or if there are paths from the outside that the ruins can be photographed well if its after closing time? I assume the temples are illuminated at night?

  • Summer Evening Openings: During the summer months, some archaeological sites, including Paestum, may offer extended evening hours on certain days. These special openings are often organized to allow visitors to experience the site during sunset or twilight. The temples are particularly picturesque during these times. You can check the official website of Paestum Archaeological Park or contact them directly to inquire about summer evening openings and schedule.
  • Nighttime Illumination: While many ancient sites in Italy are not typically illuminated at night, there could be special events or occasions when they are lit for photography or cultural performances. It's a good idea to check with the Paestum Archaeological Park authorities or local tourism information to see if any nighttime events or illuminations are planned during your visit.
  • Photographing from Outside: If you find that the archaeological park is closed during the blue hour or nighttime, you may still be able to capture stunning shots from outside the park. There could be vantage points or viewpoints in the surrounding area that allow for excellent photos of the temples from a distance. Just be sure to respect any restricted areas and property boundaries while doing so. https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4194905,15.0068254,3a,38.3y,281.84h,85.78t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sNmhD9apgDz5saah1ENaYmQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?entry=ttu
