We will be flying out of FCO airport this Friday at noon. Will will have a car which we will return to the airport Friday morning. We will be driving in from Pompeii. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good place to stay? Our first choice is a town near the airport that has decent restaurants for our final Italian dinner. Thank you!

I'm a bit unclear if you're dropping the car off on Friday morning and then taking a flight on Friday afternoon? Why do you need a hotel?
The easiest choice would be the Rome Airport Hilton, as you walk directly from the hotel into the terminals.

We're planning to drop off the car right before our flight on Saturday noon, but we don't want to spend Friday night more than an hour away from the airport. We're hoping for an interesting town where we can have a nice dinner Thursday.

Your wording above mentioned "flying out of FCO airport this Friday at noon" which is what confused me.
There's no reason to keep the car when you arrive in Rome, and you may have problems finding parking or have trouble with ZTL areas. You wouldn't want to find this when you go to collect your car for the trip to the airport! That photo was taken in Rome.
If you're arriving in Rome on Friday and flying out on Saturday, drop the car off at one of the rental agencies near Termini station and spend your last night in Rome. You could also return to the airport and take the Leonardo Express back into Rome. There are LOTS of great restaurants to choose from. Have an early breakfast at the hotel on Saturday morning and then take the Leonardo Express to FCO in time for your flight (DON'T forget to validate your tickets!).

Ken, Sorry I miswrote the days in my original post. We are actually driving in from the south this afternoon. We're at Pompeii right now. We saw Rome without a car at the beginning of our trip. We want to find a hotel close to the airport. I'm sure will do fine.

The Rome Airport Hilton would be the easiest choice. It's very posh so I'm sure they have a nice restaurant there (I've only had lunch there, and quite enjoyed it).

Hilton Airport was good when we stayed there Feb 2016. Had a 6th floor suite using Hilton points, if you do that, look around. there are two bathrooms- its not a closet door. Unusually large with huge bath in second room. Walk to and through tunnel was not bad post flight from west coast.

We ended uo staying at the Barcelo Aran Blu hotel in Ostia Lido. Was beautiful with a balcony right on the ocean. Free parking right out front. Good buffet breakfast included. Good if you have a car. Only 15 minute drive to FCO. Was 75$ including the city tax. Will be back.
