where to stay overnight, near Rome Fumicino Airport

our flight is early, out of Rome airport. Where to stay overnight, near the airport. We are driving south from Soriano Nel Cimino and would like to stay close to the airport overnight and rental car return the following morning, before our departure time.

Will you have a car? We did and spent the night in Ostia Antica so we could see some sites and have a good meal the night before.

Our flight was at 8 AM and we stayed in Rome. Early in the AM there was no traffic and it was an easy cab ride to the airport. For me I would rather have one more night in Rome than stay in a hotel by the airport.

We have stayed at the FCO Hilton several times.
Nice rooms, several restaurants. At airport, can walk.

I would stay in the city and either take a cab or the train to the airport. I have also stayed at the Hilton FCO and found it awful. Stay in town close...

Since you asked for accommodations near FCO Rome Marriott Park Hotel is close by. The husband and I stayed there in 2015. We had a very early flight, too. We knew that we could stay in Rome, but chose to not to (we used points). As I remember it was very comfortable. There is an airport shuttle, but I recall we took a taxi. We had the hotel arrange it, it came on time and was a quick trip to airport. The attached link provides direct access to the Marriott website, which includes information concerning the shuttle.

Because we are a family of 5 (3 teen boys), we are electing to find an apartment near the Termini for ease of transit. We had heard mixed reviews about the Marriott at the airport and paying for two rooms makes a huge difference and we can't easily get a taxi for 5. It made us look at the trains as the most plausible and it's significantly less expensive than the Marriott.

We really liked Hotel Tiber, maybe 10 minutes from airport, with a shuttle (I think there was a small charge)? Very comfortable, quiet rooms in a scenic location along the river. A couple of good restaurants within a short walk. Good free breakfast served early (6:30 am). Great staff -- very helpful when I had some trouble printing our boarding passes. We had flown in around 6 pm from Sicily and were flying out at 10 am so for us, it didn't make sense to go into Rome. We were actually sorry our stay in this hotel was so short.

In June 2016 we had an early flight from Rome to San Francisco. We stayed in Fumiciano, about a 10 minute drive to the airport. (We took the shuttle for 6E since we didn't have a car.) Our hotel was small, simple, clean. L'Albergo Al Porticciolo. Fumiciano is a small fishing village on the water, beautiful sunset, pier to walk along when the fishing boats come in. Decent breakfast. A calm peaceful night after our great 4 weeks in Italy. Ready for the long flight home the next morning. Search venere.com and put hotel name in search box. L'Albergo Al Porticciolo

PS: you might return the rental car that evening and take the shuttle from Terminal 3, bus stop 26 -- call hotel to confirm. 6E per person.

Me again! On our evening walk along the pier, we passed by the Hotel Tiber which looks like a nicer hotel. But we were fine with ours just across the river on a foot bridge. Enjoy your last evening in Italy!
