Naples - Sorrento Curreri Viaggi shuttles vs regular train & what is Campania Express?

I wanted to get a ticket for the shuttle from Naples Airport to Sorrento. A few people recommended them. Now, the people I rented a condo from in Sorrento tell me that they do not recommend Curreri. They recommend the train and I told them that we have 2 large bags & 2 backpacks. They also told me that Curreri does not leave you at the train station in Sorrento as they say. Does anybody have personal experience with the Curreri Viaggi trip from Naples Airport to Sorrento & back? I emailed them to ask when I can buy tickets online because it seems that they are not selling tickets for October yet. Does this seem right? I guess it's too early? Thank you. Oh, also someone recommended the Campania Express. What is that? We will be using it October 1 and 9. Would it be running then?

I've not taken the Curreri but it has gotten many recommendations on the forum, including in one of your previous threads, and I've not seen any complaints about it not stopping near the Sorrento Circumvesuviana station. No idea what the condo people are talking about unless it's not this bus.

A couple of threads containing mentions of this bus within the past year:

I did a dummy booking on the Curreri website and it's working just fine for Oct.
If you want to book roundtrip tickets, make sure you uncheck the "one way only" box if it's checked.

Choose your "from" location from the dropdown (Naples airport).
Choose your "to" location from dropdown (Sorrento train station)
Choose a departure date from calendar and available bus times from the dropdown
Choose a return date from calendar and available bus times from the dropdown
Enter number of passengers for both trips.

Campania Express is a seasonal tourist train with very limited runs between Sorrento and Naples (but not the airport). You would need to go the Napoli Centrale train station from the airport, and then walk inside to the adjoining Garibaldi station to catch it, and it only runs 4 times a day. The Curreri will be more convenient if arriving at/returning to the airport.

Good experience with Curreri from the airport -- air conditioned, comfortable seats, luggage handling, dropped us off across from the train station. Also have taken Circumvesuviana from/to Napoli Centrale train station many times -- grittier, more crowded especially during commuter rush hour, but no worse than a city bus. (Assume you will be wearing your money belt, phone zipped up safely, and have a positive attitude about seeing "real Italians."

Hello. I've used them once and it was ok. It was hot at the time and the AC was not strong enough to keep it cool inside but it was bearable. It does make a couple stops along the way and it can be a lengthy ride. Campania Express is definitely the best, you get guaranteed seat, very comfortable, and shorter route.

djoker2004, I think you're talking about the Circumvesuviana train and not the Curreri bus, right?

We've also used the Circ. train from Sorrento>Pompeii and back without any issues, and would do it again. It was a warm ride in Oct. but not that bad. Just like the 'L' in Chicago, it's how the locals commmute. But again, if traveling to and from Napoli airport, the Curreri will be more convenient as it won't involve a transfer at Garibaldi.

As far as safety on the Circ., you want to take the same precautions with valuables that you'd take on ANY form of pubic transport in crowded, tourist-magnet locations in much of Europe.

It was the Curreri bus and it was ok i guess, but I do prefer to take the taxi to Garibaldi and use Campania Express. Our bus took longer than expected and the driver was always talking with some locals (which nobody minds) but made the journey longer. The best part was the views from the bus.
