I also have been to Italy 3 times
Was taken aback by one comment that said it isn’t 1 month!
Pretty close to that!
Very disappointed in the passive aggressive comments!
And yes I have every guide from rick Steve’s!

Um, what?
you may find that having a conversation within your threads allows continuity. Not responding and then starting a new thread out of the blue causes confusion.
You can do as you wish of course.
All these knowledgeable people are doing is giving you the benefit of their experience, and in some cases finding it hard to hopscotch from one thread to the other.
If you want to drive go ahead. You have been warned about consequences but that is your choice.
zimmermanmc, I didn't see any unkind comments in any of your many threads, and certainly no one meant to be "passive agressive." The RS forum gang is largely a cheerful, well-meaning lot who genuinely care about helping fellow travelers craft their adventures. Some of that care involves pointing out pitfalls best avoided, as has been provided involving pieces of your proposed itinerary/transport plan.
That comment that your trip isn't a month? Your itinerary has you arriving on 4/14, which doesn't really count as a sightseeing day as it's a jet-lagged partial, and flying home on 5/7, which also doesn't count. That gives you 22 full sightseeing days; closer to 3 weeks so the commenter was just being realistic regarding time that doesn't involve transatlantic travel days. Where are you coming from, by the way?
From one of your posts last April:
https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/italy-for-one-month
I have been to Florence, Rome, Pienza, Montepulciano and Cortona and
Sienna. Also visited the Amalfi Coast.
As well. this thread that you'd chosen not to respond to:
https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/florence-462210c1-bbb6-4ca9-8e44-ee5a9a6a133a
With your firsthand experience in some of these places, I guess I'm a bit surprised that you were considering having a rental car in Florence, Rome, Positano and maybe even Siena? How did you sightsee these particular places on your previous trips? Whatever the case, other posters probably didn't see those old posts so had no idea you'd ever been to Italy. The more we know, the better we can help you. It helps not to start NEW threads that are lacking relevant background information and issues already covered: a running conversation keeps everyone on track. Make sense?
