Has anyone ever done this tour? It looks like it can be arranged for free with the factory directly or you can pay to go through a tour company. It is about one hour long. Is it worth getting a private driver to go do this? You have to have a car to get to it. We are foodies and this looks fun but not sure it is worth the cost of the driver.

Linda, you asked a similar question about this factory back in February?

I've not been on the tour, but I've been to Lari several times. The town is small with castle ruins in the center and at least one pretty good restaurant. Martelli has a small storefront in the center but must also, I assume, have unseen manufacturing facilities attached or nearby. Even during the cherry 'festival' held over several weekends in the spring there's not much activity in the town or the area. I can't imagine a tour would be worth the effort by itself for most people.
If you go to their martellina factory you are in for a real treat.Luca gave us a tour and much info.it was a fun experience.I would recommend having lunch around this corner from the factory.q
I read mixed reviews about the factory. Some people went and said no one was there to show them around. Others said it lasted only 10 minutes. I know you can go on a tour to see it but I was thinking of just getting a driver to go there. Do you think it is worth it?
