Planning a trip to Italy in April. In another thread someone said that your vaccination must not be older than 180 days. I am fully vaccinated but it will be past that date by then.
Do I need to get another booster before I leave?

I believe that rule was just dropped, but check the rules again before you leave….
If you're fully vaccinated (that means 3 shots), there's no problem.
I suggest checking here (https://infocovid.viaggiaresicuri.it/index_en.html) again later in March, because rules are supposed to change by then and hopefully be less strict (not regarding vaccinations though).
Like was written, if by fully vaccinated you mean you have the booster then you are fine. This is not expected to change according to the latest information. If you only have the initial two doses then you will not be allowed entry to basically anything nor permitted to travel within the country on trains/buses. This is also not expected to change in the near future according to the latest discussions as of yesterday.
I'm hoping to go to Italy in March, but my booster will also be older than 6 months (boosted in August 2021). I found this info on the US Embassy site. If I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like I'll have to be tested every 48 or 72 hours while there.

Starting on February 7, 2022, travelers to Italy holding a valid certificate of recovery or vaccination (even with a vaccine not recognized in Italy) and issued more than 6 months ago, may still access the same services and activities reserved to Super Green Pass holders after receiving a negative swab test (valid 48 hours if antigenic, or 72 hours if molecular).<<
Everything I am reading says this does not apply to the booster. If you got three, you are free!!
