I did scroll...Puglia

Hi

Seems most people don't go to this area, but I am excited about going. We have about 10 days and want to spend it in Puglia and Matera. We will spend 2 nights at the beginning of the trip in Bari and then we leave from Bari after 10 or so days. We will have a rental car so are looking to explore. I am OK about the details later but would like to get accommodations firmed up.

We would like to have 2 more bases so we can see the north and Matera (I know not in Puglia) and then go south. We are interested in hiking, food, and culture. We would be doing day trips, but probably would like to be in towns where we can just chill for a couple of days.

Does anyone have any idea about what they would like to do if they came with us :) We will be there April 10 to 21st.

I have been to the area twice - using public transportation both times. Bari is a good choice as a base. You mentioned hiking which is something I like to do, however, that area is not as approachable as other areas in Italy, although I did want to venture out to hike in the area around Matera, but we didn’t stay long enough to do that. Some of the towns are pretty touristy such as Alberobello, but we liked the normal feeling towns of Bari, Martina Franca, and Oria for culture.

Hey Texastravelmum

You are always so helpful. Thank you. Ruth’s trip report was awesome and I’m basically going to follow her route, so thanks so much for that.
