Hi everybody, will be in Rome this weekend and wondering what travelers experience has been on those double decker busses? Specifically has anyone been on the Big Bus tours? I thought it would be a great way to see a big part of the city, and then decide which spots to hit with limited time in Rome (after seeing them from the bus.). You have hop on/hop off ability. I've done this only in NYC which my wife and I enjoyed.
Thank you.

Although I've enjoyed HOHO buses in other cities, the one in Rome is not one that I would recommend. The route doesn't get particularly close to the main sites, it was difficult to get back on after a stop (lineups), and we mainly took it because it was pouring rain and we thought it might be a way to stay relatively dry (wrong!). Central Rome is a very walkable city and we did enjoy several walking tours in the days following the "monsoon-type" day. We also found the Rick Steves walking maps very useful.
