Going to Rome/The Vatican in April...

What do folks recommend for tickets/tours of the Vatican and Colosseum? Best way to purchase advance tix?

Hi Paula, I'm just back from Rome. My suggestion would be to get any of your tickets from your hotel. We did and I'm glad we did.
We also got skip the line which was well worth the extra. There are loads of scam artists right around the Vatican so be careful of them. enjoy.

Thank you, good advice, except we're not staying in a hotel. We got an Airbnb place right near the Vatican. Our budget is moderate, so I'll keep looking on line.

Paula, this is a really inexpensive tour for the Colosseum; available on the coopculture website:

You'd want the "Colosseum, Roman Forum And Palatine Regular Entrance + Colosseum English Tour (45 minutes)" selection, and "FULL TICKET + TOUR + RESERVATION" selection for adult tickets. Your ticket will also get you into the Forum and Palatine after you've seen the Colosseum. Price: 19.00€ per adult.

Some of the folks have managed their budgets by just ordering general-entry tickets and doing their touring with Rick's free audio download tours of some of Rome's attractions:
