German Rail Pass Bolzano -> Munich

I will travel Bolzano to Munich in September. I will purchase a German Rail Pass (5 flex days). The DB website tells that the Pass is valid on the EuroCity Train from Munich to Bolzano. I am travelling in the opposite direction. When I board the EC train in Bolzano, do I simply show my Pass?

I read that a seat reservation is required on international trains. How do I obtain a seat reservation? I tried on both DB and Trenitalia using dates in the next several weeks.

Michael, Bolzano is in Italy, furthermore in the part if Italy where they speak German. And it is known as "Bozen" in German. So the question is legitimate.

The poster asked the same question in the Germany forum and got some answers: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/germany/german-rail-pass-bolzano-munich-6adaefd8-1899-4ff9-90a8-cb929c056a46

I have read that German train passes are valid outside Germany on DB operated trains to and from Germany (but only on DB operated trains). I know this is correct for certain border areas with Switzerland (Basel) and Austria (Salzburg), but I have no idea whether it applies as far as Bolzano/Bozern.

My apologies. I saw "German" and "Munich" in the topic header and completely missed Bolzano.
