German Rail Pass Bolzano -> Munich

I also posted this question on the Italy Forum (wasn't sure which Forum would be more appropriate).

I will travel Bolzano to Munich in September. I will purchase a German Rail Pass (5 flex days). The DB website tells that the Pass is valid on the EuroCity Train from Munich to Bolzano. I am travelling in the opposite direction. When I board the EC train in Bolzano, do I simply show my Pass?

I read that a seat reservation is required on international trains. How do I obtain a seat reservation? I tried on both DB and Trenitalia using dates in the next several weeks.

Your railpass, if valid from Munich to Bolzano, is also valid in the opposite direction. Show your pass like you always do.

The DB-ÖBB EuroCity trains you can take are listed on a chart on this page - click on "Fahrplan."
