I agree. Let’s go Italy!
Entry testing is the main sticking point. We should, of course, all be fully vaccinated - which is within our control. But entry testing is problematic, risky and unfair in so many ways. What do you suppose would be the main criteria for Italy to drop their entry testing requirements?
This is encouraging -- yes, let's hope that this change in protocol is "contagious" and that Italy "catches" it soon!
Let's hope the US does for returns to the USA.
While I worry a bit about timing the entry testing requirements for my trip, my biggest concern is testing positive in Rome and not being able to return home on my scheduled flight. At this point, it does seem that those who have been vaccinated and boosted should be exempt from testing, particularly if people continue to wear masks on flights. Does anyone know if the US is considering dropping the testing requirement yet?
KRS, I agree. Recently, I have been hearing more news stories about airlines and other travel industry groups making the case to drop Covid test requirements for vaccinated passengers before U.S.-bound flights. They sent a letter to the Biden administration about a week ago making the case that testing requirements for vaccinated individuals are too onerous and deter travel and also that we are in an improved state in terms of infection levels. Don't know how it was received.
KRS I agree. It is the return to the USA that I want changed.
