Florence airport to Lucca?

Does anyone know what the options are to get to Lucca from the Florence airport?

There is a train from Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station to Lucca every half hour, costing E8-10 depending on which one.
The journey is about 90 minutes.
Very easy.

The bus is still available and the information I posted in the past is still valid.
However now all buses in Tuscany are consolidated under a bus group called “Autolinee Toscane”. The website is below and they have a bus planner feature.
https://www.at-bus.it/it/strumenti/trip-planner.html
In the “Partenza” (departure) field enter:
Viale Giovanni Luder, Firenze, FI, Italia
In the “Destinazione” field enter: Lucca, LU, Italia.
Then select the date and time of departure.
There may be solutions that involve a bus change somewhere, but the one you want to select is the DD bus, which is direct with no changes. From the Florence airport it is only about one hour by bus. The bus is the fastest and more convenient option from the airport, however the bus DD does not operate on Sundays, and there is only one per hour, therefore not as frequent as trains.
However taking the train from Florence Santa Maria Novella station (Florence main station) will involve backtracking to Florence city center by taxi first (20-25 min for about €25-30) then another 1.5 hour by train to Lucca, so if bus times work for you, you should consider the bus first.
The bus stop is still the same on the boulevard at the entrance of the A11 freeway in front of the airport short term parking (5 min walk from the terminal). The name of the boulevard is: Viale Giovanni Luder.

There is a direct tram from Florence Airport to right outside SMN Station.....it costs less than E2 and plenty room for luggage.
Walk across the street to the station, and get the train to Lucca.

in November, we were going to take the DD bus from Florence airport to Lucca, but when we asked about the bus in the airport, we were told that because of Covid we couldn't buy tickets at the airport and probably couldn't on the bus either. So we ended up taking train to Florence, then another to Lucca. Took a good deal longer, but it was fine.
