Has anyone purchased business class tickets through Skylux?

I am looking at flights from Texas to Rome or Florence in May of this year and business class tickets have really gone up.

As it is always advised here, what would be the advantage of buying tickets from a third party rather than the airline? Can it possibly be less expensive with better service if there is any issue.

Has anyone purchased business class tickets through Skylux?

Why would anyone do that?

We've had some threads here before asking about SkyLux:

There are also a number of threads on the Trip Advisor Air Travel forum and on Flyer Talk which discuss people's experiences with this travel agency. I believe they are mileage brokers who purchase frequent flyer miles then purchase tickets with those miles. That is against most frequent flyer rules so people have been stopped from boarding according to experiences posted.

I have not used them so no direct experience.

I prefer to book directly with the airline so I can deal with them if there are issues.

What Pam said. She nailed the details precisely.

To expand on that: Airlines regard this as fraud, and take a very dim view of it. If the airline realizes your ticket was fraudulently obtained (that's how they view it), you will be denied boarding (usually happens at the check-in counter or at the gate) and your ticket is essentially worthless, it's then your problem to get to Italy not theirs (you might want to check to see what same-day business class tickets cost to assess your risk...). How would an airline know your ticket was fraudulently obtained? Easy. If your name and the name of the person whose miles were used to book it (both are displayed in the airlines system), that mismatch can easily be seen by airline staff. Names, addresses, and previous award redemption history associated with those names are all easily searched and discovered. Things may quickly go downhill from there.

If you have any doubts, call the airline and ask them about this so-called "online travel agency". Do they have a business relationship with them?

Hint: There is no such thing as a "discount business class ticket consolidator."
