Firenze Card Website not Working Recently in USA - March 2023

Just a few weeks ago I did all my research for Florence and concluded it made sense to buy the Firenze Cards for our upcoming trip. The Firenze Card website worked fine.

Then starting almost a week or more ago I've tried to to buy our FIrenze Cards and their website every day comes up "site can not be reached". We tried from multiple computers, phones, kindles and all get the same response. This morning I called their phone number in Florence (at a time when Google business profile said they were open, accounting for time difference) and there was a recording in Italian and then the phone hung up. We don't speak Italian at all, so unsure what the message said.

Anyone know what is going on? Are they out of business or having a web issue? Is it an issue only for US computer users?
Thank you for your help.

I could be wrong but I think the problem is with the website. We purchased our tickets online on Wednesday but haven't been able to get to the site since. However, I was able to call on Thursday and make reservations for Uffizi and Galleria 'Accademe.
You can call to purchase the card, or you can call and make reservations without having to provide them any card info, that way if you're really worried you can wait til you get to Florence to purchase the card itself. Here's the info from their FAQ which I had copied and pasted before the website went down:
Firenzecard holders can enter through the priority access door only with a booking for an appointed time (this booking applies to any minors included in the Card too). For Firenzecard customers, time slots are always guaranteed for priority entry.
The reservation can be made:
1. Phoning the Firenze Musei call centre +39 055 294883 (from 8:30am to 6:30 pm from Monday to Friday; from 8:30am to 06:00pm on Saturday; from 09:00 to 06:00pm on Sunday and holidays) by providing name and surname. You will receive a reservation code to be presented at the ticket office of the reserved museum, to be shown together with your Firenzecard. Please note: after choosing the language, wait online even if the initial automatic message specifies that visit availability is not available for the desired day; press 3 for bookings with Firenzecard and 1 for consent to the processing of personal data.

Thank you. Excellent Info to have. Hopefully they get their technical glitches figures out soon, as now it is both phone and web.

hmm, are you saying you called that customer service number and didn't get through? That's a little disconcerting, although I guess it's possible it's closed right now. When I bought my ticket online on Wednesday, I downloaded the app and loaded the card to it. I can open the app now, and look at the list of museums, although I'm not doing a lot of scrolling, because I don't want to hit the wrong button and inadvertently activate my pass and start the 72 hour clock.

In any case, I will try to remember to update with our experience using the card next week.

Yes, I called the Firenze card information number during hours when google listed them as open. All I got was a recording in Italian and then the phone went click and dial tone. No option to listen in English, so unfortunately I have no idea what the message said. I'll try calling again on Monday. Thank you for all your tips and info. If I am able to book the FIrenze Card it will be super helpful. Just very weird that both the website and phone line aren't working right now.

if you called on Saturday or out of hours you may have had a recording saying they are closed. I haven't heard it.

Remember that the North America vs. the rest of the world time differences change in a few hours for 2 weeks. North America changes clocks tonight - Europe and most of the rest of the world do it in 2 weeks,

The Firenze card website worked for me, 15 seconds ago.

I have no idea what is going on. I allowed all cookies, cleared my browsing history, rebooted PC, closed and reopened google, tried yahoo/google/firefox.

Still won't work for me to reach their website. Perhaps a USA problem?????

I called during a time that google sidebar business info said they were open and the time in Florence matched their open hours. It was early Saturday morning in California and afternoon in Florence, so I'll try calling again on a week day.

Thank you for all the helpful responses. Urghhh... so frustrating. No idea why I could access the website 2 weeks ago and now I can't.

Hmmm. I reference their website a lot when helping people with the Florence museums and its not working for me today either. I will say that I have had occasional trouble accessing sites ending in .it - such as https://parcocolosseo.it - on weekends or evening hours (in Italy) when offices may be closed. It could be a temporary staffing issue, and it could be a website issue (undergoing maintenance?) but I'd try again tomorrow during estimated business hours. Business hours listed on google are usually but not always correct, especially in the case of a temporary situation.

Edited: I am seeing a similar complaint on the TripAdvisor forum posted 3/10. As it's not unusual for people to be doing research via multiple forums, it's possibly yours as well, Luv2Trvl?

ah, here's something interesting. I just switched on my VPN and identified as USA. The Firenze card website fails. The Firenze card buying page fails.

Switch off VPN and identify as UK - it all works smooth as glass....

Somebody doesn't like reaching the Firenze Card website from the USA.

hmmmm

maybe change the title of the thread to Suddenly Can't Get to Webpage or something so others don't think they've gone belly up?

Thanks everyone. I'm going to call Monday morning and see if phone call gets thru. Otherwise, I'll follow the earlier reco and make reservations via phone at Uffizi and Acadamia, then we'll either keep checking and perhaps web site will start working prior to our vacation or we will buy Firenze Pass when we first arrive in Florence.
Seems like this issue may be unique to USA. My Kindle has no VPN, so that can't be issue,, but then I also don't know how to change the country as suggested by a prior poster.

The website is still not coming up for me. Weird.

Switch off VPN and identify as UK

Nigel, this tech-challenged individual wouldn't have a clue how to do that on my Macbook.

Latest update. Just called Firenze Card phone number again. Monday 3/13/23 time in Florence is 2:30 pm. Get exact same thing ... message in Italian and then the line hangs up.

I researched and figured out I could use phone on speaker and laptop with google translate set to microphone to translate the Italian message. This is what google translate came up with:
"not available professional or company password required contact administrator" (non disponibile password professionale o d'impresa richiesta contattare l'amministratore)

I'm calling this number: +39 055 000

Is there some other number I should be using?

This is the number I called last week, using skype Phoning the Firenze Musei call centre +39 055 294883 (from 8:30am to 6:30 pm from Monday to Friday; from 8:30am to 06:00pm on Saturday; from 09:00 to 06:00pm on Sunday and holidays)

I got through right away, and pressed the buttons in the sequence I mentoned earlier (1 for English, 3 for bookings with Firenzecard and 1 for consent to the processing of personal data.) If you haven't purchased your Firenze card you can still make your reservations for Uffizi and Accademia, but you will be talking with a live person, speaking English so you can ask about the website.

Ehm, Where did you find that number?

0039 is Italy, 055 is the area code for Florence.

Even if a phone number made only of zeros wasn't strange, I think the last time the Florentines had 3-digits phone numbers was in the 20s.

Just tried the website again and it came right up so whatever was bedeviling it appears to be history, at least for the moment. Working now for you too, Luv2Trvl?

Appreciate everyone's insights. I copied out all the FAQ so I'll have it next time their site goes down.

We used the card successfully last week. The phone reservation worked great, just showed up to the respective ticket office with reservation number and showed our card on the app.
We used the card at 15 museums in 5 days, it was a lot but we really enjoyed them.
My advice for someone using the extra 48 hours after the original 72 hours is to load it while still at your hotel or somewhere with good wifi and without the stress of wanting to enter a museum. All the steps involved aren't clearly described or maybe I was just panicked but it took about 15 minutes to figure it all out and it didn't help that we were in an area with bad cell connection. But it all worked out eventually. Remember to record the date of your original card purchase qnd your card number. You'll need to enter that info to add the extension. If you do it correctly they will send you a new voucher code to actually load the extension on you app. Android version experience only. I'm not sure if all of the above is the same for iphone version.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I’m having trouble with the Firenze Musei call centre. I wait through the cue then it seems to disconnect on my turn. I’m calling within the hours of operation listed with the time change in mind. Is there a booking option online? Or is it risky to wait until I’m there to book for the following day? First time to Florence, so hoping to book Uffizi and Accademia, etc. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Did you see my earlier reply and use that phone number (this nunber was taken from the FAQ page):

I have a long winded description of my call in another thread (link posted earlier in this thread).

We had no trouble using our timed reservations once in Florence, just showed up to each reservation office and gave the confirmation number along with showing our Firenze card on our phone.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, this is the number that I called. Both times, the same result. Wait in line and when it seems I’m next they disconnect me.
