We will arrive FCO on a Monday morning and head to Naples directly. We’ll buy train tickets on arrival and not in advance because we don’t know how long it’ll take us to get through passport control, baggage lines and so on, or if the plane will land on time.
Trenitalia seem to be the only option to get from FCO to Naples on a single ticket.
We can take the 4-hr train for about €21 and arrive Naples around the time we can check in, 3:00PM. This option requires two changes, one at Rome Ostiense which gives us 9 minutes to find the train to Termini, then a second change at Termini with 15 minutes to find the train to Naples Centrale. Rome Ostiense station looks pretty big.
Q: Is a 9-minute window enough to navigate Rome Ostiense station? Would we better off giving ourselves a little more slack in case there’s a delay with the first train?
Another option is take a pricier 2-hr train (~€47), get to Naples earlier and tour free-style for about 3 hours until we can check in.
Q: Is there someplace in or near Napoli Centrale to hold our luggage for a few hours?
If someone’s done this before or knows the ropes, we’d really appreciate the perspective and experience.
Grazie.
