I am a fairly seasoned traveler, with my first trip to Europe at 10.
I am traveling with my two grown daughters to Europe and would like suggestions for areas not so commonly traveled.
We love the sea but also want to see the culture of the region.
We plan to be gone only 10 days so don't want to hop all around Europe.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

It would help if you told us where you’ve traveled before and your interests are. I feel your query is to broad and you have to be more specific.

And is this trip to Italy, as implied by your asking in this particular part of the forum? Or should you be asking in "General Europe"?

Hi,
To answer the question about where I have been in
Europe, I would venture to say probably everywhere but Eastern Europe, but I have been to Hungary and the Check Republic.
I am concerned about the cost of the trip since I am paying for all of us.
We plan to go during my daughters school vacation, she is a teacher, so it would have to be between mid-June and mid-August.
We are up to driving but would also consider local public transportation.
One of us is fluent in Spanish and another in German but the lack of local language has never held us back during any of our past trips.
Your input and suggestions will be welcome.

Do you want to go to Italy? If not, please don't post in the Italy section.
Do you want to go somewhere you haven't yet been? Then it would help if you put "Eastern Europe" in your heading and added the other relevant information.
Gone 10 days - does that mean gone from home, so realistically 9 nights in Europe, 8 days?
We are all volunteers here. Without good information, we can't help. Sorry if I sound snippy, but it is frustrating to try to help only to find I've been on the wrong track all the time.

You mention your travel experience, but is it also your daughters'? Is the trip for them or you? I ask, because if they are less traveled, then perhaps they want a more traditional city with a few days away.
Beach in summer is always going to be busy. If not American tourists, it will be European tourists.
To some extent you answered your own question...if open to Europe on general....head further east for few American tourists, at least, and lesser costs. Albania has a 'riviera' coastline at a reasonable price point.
Any country is going to offer less traveled areas.....just get on a regional train away from a major city or tackle a placeonly reachable by bus.
